Step 1: Making the Turmeric Paste
☆Ingredients:
1/4 cup of organic turmeric powder
1/2 cup of filtered water
1/2 teaspoon of organic ground pepper
Side Note: Adding black pepper to turmeric or turmeric-spiced food enhances curcumin’s bio availability by 1,000 times, due to black pepper’s hot property called piperine. Yes, by mixing turmeric and black pepper together, you increase your body’s absorption of the turmeric by 2000%!
☆Directions: Mix all ingredients in a small sauce pan and mix well. Turn the heat to medium high and stir constantly until the mixture is a thick paste. This does not take long so don’t walk away from the pan. Let this mixture cool and then keep it in a small mason jar in the fridge.
Step 2: Preparing the Golden Milk
☆Ingredients:
1 cup of organic almond milk (hemp or coconut are also good options)
1 teaspoon organic extra-virgin cold pressed coconut oil
1/4 teaspoon or more of organic turmeric paste
Organic Raw Honey -OR- *Grade B* Maple Syrup (to taste)
1/2 - 3/4 teaspoon of Organic Cinnamon (optional)
1/2 teaspoon of FRESH grated Organic Ginger (optional)
☆Directions: Combine all the ingredients, EXCEPT honey/syrup in a saucepan. Turn the heat to medium. While heating make sure to stir constantly and DO NOT allow the mixture to boil. REMOVE from heat. Add honey/syrup to taste.
Side Note: *If adding the -optional- ingredients make sure to add the Fresh grated Ginger while the Golden Milk is heating up in the sauce pan and stir in the cinnamon AFTER it is removed from the heat*
